I forgot that today is the start of the Marlin Season! Wondered why all the large charter boats were at the Russell Wharf this morning. Must have had my eyes shut yesterday.
The Cruise Ship Mercury should be anchoring about now out there in the Bay, no sunshine, but at least its stopped raining and blowing gale force winds.
Bit chilly today, 17 degrees C. Start of the Xmas functions too-its a good time in Russell at the moment, not as many tourists here as there were last year, but then again wait until a week or two before Xmas and she’ll be full on!
(sigh) radio pretty quiet at the moment – in a way, with this weather its a good thing. Got some encouraging news yesterday – about the Radio Station – but can’t divulge as yet..standby on this.
Mike (another volunteer) has just popped in to the station (Mike lives on his yacht Kokoamo) and comes over to use the computer, so better not hold him up for much longer. Mike is what we term a “swallow” (lucky fella) 6 months here for the summer and then 6 months in either Scotland or up in the Islands (its a hard life).
P.S Mike is looking for the “perfect” woman – so if you’re into sailing, having a good time, and love dancing and don’t mind him being old decrepit and “past it” (those are his words not mine!) just pop a line and I’ll pass it on.
